SYSTEM TYPES

Types of Septic Systems Your Need

We install, service and repair all major septic system types used across the Coffs Coast. Every setup is tailored to your property’s soil, slope and council requirements to ensure long lasting, reliable wastewater performance.

Gravity Feed Septic Systems

A simple, long-lasting system using gravity to move wastewater into absorption trenches. Known for low running costs and reliable performance for traditional rural setups.

Reed Bed Systems

A natural, low-maintenance wastewater treatment option that uses plants and gravel to filter household greywater and blackwater. Ideal for rural homes looking for eco-friendly performance without heavy running costs.

OSSM On-Site Sewage Management System

Aerated Wastewater Treatment Systems use multiple chambers and an air blower to help break down wastewater before pumping treated water into the yard. They are ideal for properties with clay, shale or steep slopes.

Absorption Trenches

Absorption trenches move treated wastewater into the ground using gravel, pipes and soil filtration. Ideal for homes with clay, mixed soils or older failing systems. These setups reduce backups, protect your yard.

Common Questions

Septic System Help & Answers

Clear answers to the most common questions about septic systems, installation options and ongoing care.

What septic system is right for my property?

The best system depends on soil type, slope, layout, watercourses and council requirements. We inspect the site and recommend the correct setup, whether it’s a reed bed, AWTS, gravity system or absorption trench.

How often should my system be serviced?

AWTS units require servicing every 3 months. Gravity and trench systems need far less attention but should still be checked yearly to prevent blockages or overflows.

Do I need power for all septic systems?

No. Gravity systems don’t need power. AWTS units require constant airflow from a blower plus a pump for irrigation, so they must stay connected to electricity.

What are the signs my septic system needs repairs?

Common warnings include slow drains, gurgling noises, surface pooling, unpleasant smells, or pump alarms. Early repairs prevent costly damage.

Can you repair older systems or failed installations?

Yes. We fix blocked chambers, pump faults, cracked pipes, drainage failures, absorption trench issues, and poor-quality past installations to bring systems back to safe operation.
